From the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure openings that broke the internet to cinematic game anthems β Shihori's recent output is relentless.
A story only music could tell.
Born in Nagoya, Japan, Shihori entered the world with a challenge that would become her greatest gift: natural hearing loss in her left ear, but absolute pitch in her right. Without any formal music education, she began writing and singing original songs at the age of 7 β influenced by Beethoven and anime soundtracks, a blend that would come to define her entire musical identity.
She debuted as βSenaβ in 2007, and her single βNever End Wonderlandβ hit #5 on the Oricon Chart β Japan's equivalent of the Billboard Hot 100. By 2009, she had begun her prolific songwriting career, penning hits for Nana Mizuki (βChinmoku no Kajitsuβ), Momoiro Clover Z (βGOUNNβ), Buono! (βHatsukoi Ciderβ), Idoling!!! (βDon't think. Feel!!!β for Fairy Tail), ELISA, May'n, and many more. Her songs charted, won awards, and earned 13 Gold Disc certifications.
In 2010, everything changed. Shihori co-wrote with legendary composer Yoko Kanno β the genius behind Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, and Macross Frontier. Where others had tried to strip away Shihori's uniqueness, Kanno celebrated it.
In 2015, she collaborated with Kohei Tanaka β the composer of ONE PIECE β co-writing and performing live together. Her compositions spanned Fairy Tail, The Irregular at Magic High School, Tomodachi Game, and more. She also became a sought-after commercial vocalist, lending her voice to Japan's iconic wedding magazine TV ad, Zexy.
In 2018, she made the bold move to Los Angeles, taking her unique blend of J-Pop artistry to the global stage. The years that followed were explosive: βBattle Queens 2020β for League of Legends crossed 2.5M Spotify streams. βMake It Rainβ β the official JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: The JOJOLands opening β and βHeavy Waves,β the Path to Nowhere Γ JoJo's Stone Ocean collaboration theme, cemented her place in the franchise. She also sang the fan-made βHoly Steelβ for Steel Ball Run, which detonated across the internet with 18 million YouTube views. And in 2025, she made history as the first J-Pop artist to perform a solo acoustic concert at Costa Rica's prestigious Teatro Nacional.
