Ayase, the composer behind the global J-Pop phenomenon YOASOBI, has shared the music video for PLANETS, directed by Ryo Suda. The visual arrives after his debut solo EP dialogue dropped in May and follows a North American headline tour with YOASOBI that included performances at the Hollywood Bowl, Lollapalooza's mainstage, and Barclays Center.

The PLANETS video maintains the narrative-driven approach that defines Ayase's work with YOASOBI, weaving through surreal townscapes and character interactions. Ayase describes the creative impulse behind his solo venture: "Over the past seven years or so of running at full speed as the composer for YOASOBI, I couldn't completely shake off my desire to sing. I was able to express that feeling through this body of work."

dialogue marks Ayase's first EP as a singer-songwriter, where he handles songwriting, composition, arrangement, and vocals—a shift from his role as YOASOBI's behind-the-scenes architect. The EP explores the concept of dialogue with himself, others, events around him, and society at large.

The release caps a particularly active period for the musician. YOASOBI recently dropped THE BOOK for, described as the final installment of their beloved book series album trilogy. The group continues to maintain their position as one of J-Pop's biggest international acts—their 2023 hit "Idol" dominated the Billboard Japan Hot 100 year-end chart and became the fastest single to reach 100 million streams on the platform. "Into The Night (Yoru ni Kakeru)," their 2019 debut, surpassed 900 million streams by January 2023, a first for a Japanese artist.

With PLANETS and dialogue, Ayase demonstrates that the creative energy fueling YOASOBI's success extends well beyond his production work, suggesting fans may see more solo material as the artist continues to balance his dual roles.
