Ayase, the composer behind acclaimed J-Pop duo YOASOBI, has released the music video for his solo track PLANETS, directed by Ryo Suda. The video arrives months after Ayase's May release of his debut EP dialogue, marking his formal entry into solo work as a singer-songwriter.

The PLANETS video maintains Ayase's signature visual storytelling, weaving a narrative across surreal townscapes and character interactions—a continuation of the cinematic approach he's developed alongside YOASOBI over the past seven years. On dialogue, Ayase stepped into full creative control for the first time: writing, composing, arranging, and performing vocals himself. The EP explores the concept of dialogue with himself, others around him, and society at large.

"Over the past seven years or so of running at full speed as the composer for YOASOBI, I couldn't completely shake off my desire to sing," Ayase explained. "I was able to express that feeling through this body of work."

The release marks another milestone in an eventful year for the artist. Earlier this summer, Ayase toured North America as part of YOASOBI, with stops at venues including the Hollywood Bowl, Lollapalooza's mainstage, and Barclays Center. That tour followed YOASOBI's recently released album THE BOOK for, described as the final installment of their book series.

Yoasobi itself has maintained momentum on the global stage. Their 2023 smash hit Idol held the #1 spot on Japan's Billboard Hot 100 chart for 22 consecutive weeks and broke the record for the fastest single to reach 100 million streams on the Billboard Japan chart. The track also topped the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, cementing the duo's status as one of Japan's biggest contemporary acts.
