YOASOBI launched their North American tour in Boston on August 4th, just days after performing at Lollapalooza on August 2nd. The Never Ending Stories Tour supports their latest EP, THE BOOK for, and features the producer Ayase and vocalist ikura alongside live band members drummer Hiroki Ono, keyboardist Ena Suzuki, bassist and band master Sota Kawakami, and guitarist Assh.

The duo's catalog spans synth-pop, electronic rock, and vocaloid-influenced tracks, many of which have become iconic anime theme songs. "Idol" from Oshi no Ko, "Yuusha" from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, "The Blessing" for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, and "Monster" for BEASTARS are among their most recognizable works. YOASOBI's songs typically adapt existing stories from online posts, letters, plays, games, and books into original music.

The Boston show showcased the group's live energy and stage presence. The setlist balanced high-energy opener tracks with a slower mid-section before building back to a powerful close. Visuals and digital backdrops complemented street-style and school-uniform-inspired stage outfits. ikura kept the crowd engaged with calculated choreography, fan chants, and direct interaction, while also sharing a personal connection to Boston from her childhood. Ayase brought charisma to the performance and taught the audience basic Japanese phrases.

The show highlighted the distinctive fan culture of J-Pop live events. Attendees wielded color-changing penlights that shift colors to match each song's theme and stage design, creating what looks like an ocean of synchronized light. Fans also perform coordinated movements called "wotagei"—rhythmic motions in unison with the beat—transforming the audience into an active part of the performance rather than passive observers.
