Idea Factory International revealed the opening movie trailer for the western Switch release of 9 R.I.P. sequel this week, giving fans their first look at the supernatural visual novel's English localization.

The game launches physically and digitally in North America and Europe in 2026. The opening theme "LOVExMAGiC" is performed by Tonari no Sakata. Buyers of the Standard Edition will also receive a bonus trading card pack.

9 R.I.P. sequel features nine different routes, including direct continuations of the original game's Heavenly and Godly Endings, alongside entirely new character routes. A Limited Edition release is also planned. The game originally launched on Switch in Japan in September 2025, nearly a year after Otomate announced it at the "Dessert de Otomate 2025" fan event.

The returning voice cast includes Toshiki Masuda, Ryōta Suzuki, Tetsuya Kakihara, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Shinnosuke Tachibana, KENN, and Yōhei Azakami. Amon directs the sequel, while character designer Yuuya returns from the Cupid Parasite team to provide artwork and character designs.

The original 9 R.I.P. follows Misa Isshiki, a high school student dealing with stress about her future when she encounters rumors about people being spirited away in her town. After an eerie voice offers to guide her path forward, strange occurrences begin surrounding Misa as she meets supernatural characters tied to her fate.

Otomate initially released the original 9 R.I.P. for Switch in Japan in June 2023, with Idea Factory bringing it to English audiences in October 2024. The sequel builds on that foundation with expanded storytelling and new supernatural encounters for fans to experience.
