Random Play Dance originated on Korea's Weekly Idol show and became a global phenomenon through public events worldwide. The rules are simple.

The DJ drops a 15–30 second clip of a K-Pop, J-Pop, or anime chorus — at random.

If you recognize the song and know the choreography, run to the center and dance!

Perform the official choreography with everyone else who jumped in. No judgment — just energy.

Open Random Play Dance
The main event — open to everyone. No sign-up, no audition. Just jump in when you know the song and dance the chorus.
Themed Rounds
Girl group round, boy group round, anime round, classic hits round — each themed set brings different energy to the floor.
Survival Elimination
Think you know every dance? Enter the survival round — dancers are eliminated one by one until the Last Dancer Standing wins.
Prizes & Giveaways
Prizes for survival winners, best energy, and random giveaways throughout the event. Dance hard and you might walk away with something.

踊 — About Random Play Dance

Born on TV. Made for the people.

Random Play Dance started as a game on Weekly Idol, a Korean variety show where K-Pop idols would be tested on their own choreography as song clips played in random order. Mistakes meant hilarious punishments. The format was so fun that fans recreated it in public — first in Seoul, then in cities around the world.

“You don't need to be a professional dancer. You just need to know the chorus.”

Today, RPD is the single most participatory activity at any K-Pop event. YouTubers like GoToe have organized RPDs in New York, London, Bangkok, and Seoul with hundreds of dancers. KCON features RPD as one of their most popular activities. At Anime NYC, RPD sessions draw massive crowds.

Knox Pop Con 2026 brought this global phenomenon to Knoxville for the first time — and the circle delivered. 200+ songs, survival rounds, themed sets, and prizes. It was Knoxville's biggest RPD.

Got questions? We got answers.

Did you need to know every dance?
Not at all — most people only jumped in for the songs they knew. Even knowing 2–3 dances was enough to have a blast.
What if you were shy or a beginner?
RPD was set up so you could watch from the circle and jump in whenever you felt ready. There was zero pressure — and when 20 other people were dancing the same chorus, nobody was watching just you.
Was there an age limit?
Nope — RPD was all ages, all skill levels. Kids, teens, adults — everyone was welcome in the circle.
What songs were played?
A mix of 200+ songs spanning K-Pop hits (TWICE, BTS, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids), J-Pop/anime songs (YOASOBI, LiSA), and classic throwbacks. The DJ picked randomly, so you never knew what was next.
Did you need to sign up in advance?
No sign-up required — dancers just showed up to the RPD area and joined the circle. It was completely open participation.
What was the survival round?
A competitive elimination round where you had to dance every song correctly. Miss a dance or get it wrong, and you were out. The last person standing won a prize.
