A live-action adaptation of the webtoon Covet the Scholar, Princess is officially in the works, with casting nearly locked in place.

According to Korean entertainment outlet OSEN, actors Yeon-seok Yoo and Se-young Lee are in discussions to lead the series and are positively reviewing their offers. If they sign on, this would be the first time the two have worked together.

The original webtoon tells a historical romance centered on Princess Eun-myeong, who grows up confined within the royal court and falls for scholar Kim Seoyul at first sight. Their budding relationship quickly becomes tangled in deep family feuds and power struggles that threaten to keep them apart.

If cast, Lee would portray the inquisitive and determined princess, while Yoo would take on the role of Seoyul, a nobleman who keeps his distance despite her romantic pursuits. The contrast between the princess's boldness and the scholar's restraint will likely drive much of the emotional tension throughout the story.

The series is currently in talks with broadcasters for distribution, though no official release date has been announced yet. Production details remain minimal at this stage, with the focus clearly on finalizing the cast.

It's worth noting that an official English translation of the original webtoon isn't currently available outside Korea, making this live-action adaptation a major opportunity to introduce the story to international audiences.
