Dragon Quest Smash/Grow Mobile Game Launches Worldwide April 21
Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest Smash/Grow will launch worldwide on iOS and Android on April 21, 2026. The roguelite RPG features dynamic combat mechanics and an opening trailer animated by Kamikaze Douga.

Square Enix is bringing Dragon Quest Smash/Grow to mobile devices globally on April 21 (April 20 PDT), the company revealed Tuesday via a new opening trailer. The game launches simultaneously on iOS and Android across all regions.
The roguelite RPG combines two core mechanics: "smashing" combat that requires players to charge special move gauges for powerful attacks, and "growing" progression where players collect growth crystals to unlock permanent blessings. This dual system creates a blend of action gameplay with roguelite progression elements.
Kamikaze Douga, the animation studio behind acclaimed projects like Carole & Tuesday, crafted the opening trailer to introduce the game's world and mechanics to new players.
This mobile title arrives alongside Square Enix's ongoing efforts to expand the Dragon Quest franchise across multiple platforms. Earlier this year, the company released Dragon Quest VII Reimagined on February 5 for Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This remake reimagines the 2000 PS1 original rather than following the Nintendo 3DS remake path.
Square Enix has also been updating classic Dragon Quest titles with modern presentation. The "HD-2D" remakes of Dragon Quest I & II launched in October 2025, while Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation received the same treatment in November 2024, all available across Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The franchise's next major milestone is Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, the newest main series installment announced in May 2021. While Dragon Quest XII hasn't received a release date yet, Square Enix's recent activity suggests the publisher remains committed to bringing new Dragon Quest content to players regularly.
For fans looking to experience Dragon Quest on the go, Smash/Grow offers an accessible entry point with its roguelite format and mobile-friendly design, bridging the gap until the next major console release.
