Fungus and Iron Manga Concludes with Volume 10
Manga creator Ayaka Katayama announced that her series Fungus and Iron will wrap up in its 10th volume. The manga, which launched in 2021, is also getting an anime adaptation.

Ayaka Katayama confirmed on X that her manga series Fungus and Iron (Kin to Tetsu) will reach its conclusion in the upcoming 10th volume. The announcement came on April 10, with Katayama noting that volume 9βreleased around the announcement dateβbegins the final battle sequence that carries through to the series' ending.
Fungus and Iron debuted in Kodansha's Bessatsu ShΕnen Magazine back in March 2021. The series took a hiatus in August 2021 when Katayama went on maternity leave, then returned to serialization the following March. Kodansha published the first compiled volume in July 2021, and the eighth volume hit shelves in October 2025. English-language readers can access the series digitally through Kodansha USA Publishing, which released the eighth volume in English on February 24.
According to Kodansha's official description, the story follows Dante, a resident of Amigasa who's seen as an oddball by those around him. His life takes a turn when he meets a young woman named Aoi, setting him on a path he can no longer avoid.
Beyond the manga's conclusion, the series is receiving an anime adaptation, though specific details about the adaptation remain limited. The end of the manga serialization typically precedes anime releases by some time, suggesting fans may see the adaptation sometime after the final volume's release.
This conclusion marks the end of a five-year run for the series, which has weathered production challenges but maintained reader interest through its serialization. For fans following the story, the 10th volume will provide closure to Dante's journey on Amigasa.
