Cygames is opening up Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok to players next week with a four-day open beta test. Running April 24-27, the test will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.

The beta gives you a solid taste of what to expect: an offline tutorial, 12 playable characters, four online quests, and summons gameplay. If you're on Switch 2, you'll also get to try local wireless play during the test period.

Cygames released an English-subtitled and English-dubbed introduction video alongside the announcement, so the studio is clearly prepping for a full international rollout when the full game launches on July 9.

For those familiar with the original Granblue Fantasy: Relink from February 2024, Endless Ragnarok is essentially an upgraded version packed with additional content and a new story. Owners of the original game can upgrade for $29.99 (standard edition) or $54.99 (special edition) on any platform they own it on.

The action RPG features character designs by Hideo Minaba, with a creative team that includes producer Koichi Haruta, director Tetsuya Fukuhara, and composers Nobuo Uematsu and Tsutomu Narita. You can choose between a male or female protagonist and team up with series favorites like Katalina, Rackam, and Lyria, among others.

The original Granblue Fantasy: Relink had a rocky development historyβ€”Cygames took over the project from Platinum Games back in 2019 after it spent years in development hell. The 2024 release eventually found its footing with cross-play multiplayer support and localizations in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.

If you're interested in testing the waters before July, the beta is your chance to jump in without any commitment. Just grab a spot during those four days and see if the expanded RPG is worth your time.
