Miyazaki Creates New Art for Ghibli Park Display Starting July 8

Hayao Miyazaki has personally created new panoramic artwork featuring some of his most beloved characters, including Nausicäa, Kiki, Totoro, and Chihiro from Spirited Away. These special pieces will go on display at Ghibli Park starting July 8.

The new artwork brings together characters from across Miyazaki's legendary filmography in panoramic format, offering fans a rare opportunity to see fresh creations from the acclaimed director. For those unfamiliar, these characters come from some of Studio Ghibli's most cherished films: Nausicäa of the Valley of the Wind, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, and Spirited Away.

Ghibli Park, located in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, opened in 2022 as a nature-integrated theme park celebrating the world of Studio Ghibli films. Unlike traditional theme parks, it focuses on preserving the natural environment while creating immersive experiences based on Ghibli movies.

This exhibition represents something special for Ghibli fans, as Miyazaki rarely creates new artwork featuring his classic characters outside of film production. The panoramic format suggests these pieces will offer sweeping, detailed scenes that capture the magical worlds these characters inhabit.

For international fans planning a trip to Japan, this display provides another compelling reason to visit Ghibli Park. The exhibition joins other attractions like the Hill of Youth, Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, and Dondoko Forest in celebrating the studio's incredible legacy of storytelling and animation artistry.
