Pokémon Horizons Enters 'Wonder Voyage' Arc on May 22
The Pokémon: Horizons anime will launch its next story arc, 'Wonder Voyage,' on May 22. The new arc introduces Ditto and a fresh character while teasing connections to Pokémon Go, Unite, and Sleep.

Pokémon: Horizons is moving into its fifth arc with the May 22 premiere of "Wonder Voyage." The staff revealed a new visual centered on Ditto and an unnamed character, hinting at storylines tied to several Pokémon spinoff games including Pokémon Go, Pokémon Unite, and Pokémon Sleep.
This marks the anime's latest narrative shift since its April 2023 debut. The series has steadily progressed through themed arcs: starting with its initial storyline, moving into "The Brilliance of Terapagos," then the "Terastal Debut" arc, and most recently the Kitakami-focused story that began in October 2024. Each arc has introduced new locations and gameplay mechanics inspired by the Scarlet and Violet games and their expansions.
The anime follows protagonists Liko and Roy as they travel with their Pokémon partners and allies Friede and Captain Pikachu. The series draws heavily from Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, featuring starter Pokémon like Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, alongside Shiny Rayquaza.
Production remains steady under director Saori Den, with creative oversight from Daiki Tomiyasu. The writing team includes Dai Satō, known for his work on series like Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop.
In North America, the anime premiered on Netflix in March 2024, with the second season arriving in February 2025 under the title "Pokémon Horizons: The Series—The Search for Laqua." The show airs Friday evenings at 6:55 p.m. JST in Japan.
The timing of the Wonder Voyage arc's premiere aligns with ongoing interest in the Pokémon franchise across multiple platforms. With Pokémon Legends Z-A launching last October and continued expansion content for Scarlet/Violet, the anime continues adapting and promoting the wider Pokémon ecosystem across games, mobile apps, and the anime series itself.
