Spike Chunsoft confirmed that Steins;Gate Re:Boot will hit North American and European shelves on October 29 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. Players in those regions can grab digital versions for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam starting August 20—a couple months earlier than the console release.

The game launches in Japan on August 20 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. It supports Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text, though audio is Japanese-only. Both standard and Steelbook physical editions will be available in the West, with the Steelbook featuring new cover art by character designer huke and a sticker exclusive to first-print runs.

Re:Boot represents a significant visual overhaul of the original 2009 visual novel. Huke has redesigned all character clothing and accessories, while the game's backgrounds now recreate Akihabara as it appeared in 2010. New locations and story scenes absent from the original have been woven in, expanding the experience for longtime fans. The team used M2's E-Mote animation system to bring more detailed facial expressions to 2D character sprites—a technique proven in other visual novels.

The remake was originally slated for 2025 but was pushed back to allow for additional polish and content expansion.

Steins;Gate remains one of anime's most successful franchises. The original visual novel sparked a 2011 TV anime that became a beloved classic, followed by the 2013 film Load Region of Déjà Vu and the 2018 alternate-timeline series Steins;Gate 0.
