The Detective is Already Dead Season 2 Pushed Back to October 2026

Fans of The Detective is Already Dead will need to wait a bit longer for the mystery series to return. The previously announced second season has been delayed from its original July release window to October 2026.

The Detective is Already Dead (Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru) follows Kimihiko Kimizuka, an ordinary high school student who becomes involved in extraordinary mysteries after a chance encounter on a hijacked airplane. The series blends supernatural elements with detective work as Kimihiko partners with the brilliant detective Siesta to solve cases around the world.

Based on the light novel series by Nigojuu, the first season aired in 2021 and introduced viewers to this unique take on the mystery genre. The anime adaptation brought the story's mix of action, comedy, and supernatural intrigue to life, building a dedicated fanbase eager for more adventures.

While the delay means a longer wait for answers to the first season's cliffhangers, it should give the production team additional time to ensure the second season meets fan expectations. October 2026 may seem far off, but it will give newcomers plenty of time to catch up on the first season.

The extra development time could prove beneficial for maintaining the series' distinctive visual style and complex storytelling. Mystery anime often require careful pacing and attention to detail, making the additional production time potentially valuable for the final product.
