AKB48 Becomes Ambassador for JA Zenno's 'Nippon Yell' Campaign
Eleven AKB48 members attended a press conference in Tokyo announcing their new role as brand ambassadors for JA Zenno's agricultural promotion campaign.

AKB48 has taken on a new mission to support Japanese agriculture as brand ambassadors for JA Zenno's "Nippon Yell" campaign.
Eleven members attended the announcement ceremony in Tokyo on March 9th: Ito Momoka, Kudo Karen, Kuranoo Narumi, Sato Kisei, Chiba Eri, Hirata Yuki, Shochu Mayu, Morikawa Yu, Yagi Atsuki, Yamauchi Mizuki, and Yamazaki Sora.
JA Zenno (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) launched the "Nippon Yell" initiative to promote Japanese agricultural products and support local farmers. The campaign aligns with AKB48's longstanding connection to everyday Japanese life and their role as cultural ambassadors.
During the press conference, the members expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership and their goal of becoming the "rice position" of the idol world - a playful reference to rice being a staple food that supports Japanese culture, much like how they want AKB48 to be a foundational part of the entertainment landscape.
This collaboration represents AKB48's continued evolution beyond traditional idol activities into social advocacy roles. The group has previously partnered with various organizations for public service campaigns, using their platform to raise awareness for important causes.
The partnership comes as Japan continues efforts to revitalize its agricultural sector and promote domestic food production to younger generations. Having AKB48 as ambassadors could help bridge the gap between traditional farming culture and modern youth, potentially inspiring greater appreciation for Japanese agriculture among their fanbase.
