Hello! Project Artists Gather for Environmental Event Opening Ceremony

A major environmental awareness event featuring Hello! Project artists kicked off yesterday at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, with a notable surprise appearance from former Country Musume member Satoda Mai.

The opening ceremony for "Thinking About Carbon Neutrality 2026 by SATOYAMA & SATOUMI movement" took place at the International Exhibition Hall 3 on March 20th. The event is presented by Kinoshita Group and organized by Up-Front Group, the management company behind Hello! Project.

Satoda Mai's appearance marks her first public Hello! Project-related event in 13 years. The 39-year-old former idol retired from entertainment in 2011 to focus on her family life with professional baseball player Masahiro Tanaka, making this return particularly significant for longtime fans.

The SATOYAMA & SATOUMI movement has been an ongoing environmental initiative supported by Hello! Project artists, focusing on preserving Japan's traditional rural landscapes and coastal areas. The movement aims to raise awareness about sustainable living and environmental conservation through entertainment and education.

This year's event extends the environmental message to address carbon neutrality goals for 2026, reflecting Japan's broader commitment to environmental sustainability. Hello! Project artists have historically participated in various SATOYAMA & SATOUMI activities, including special concerts and educational programs.

The event continues Hello! Project's tradition of using their platform to promote social causes alongside entertainment, connecting their fanbase with important environmental messages.
