iVy Steps Into Studio for Expanded New Single
The alternative pop unit iVy is releasing a new double single 'Futago no Laika / Septum' on April 22, marking their first studio recording with guest musicians from WOZNIAK and yonawo.

iVy, the alternative pop duo of fuki (vocals, guitar) and pupu (vocals, keyboards), is stepping into new sonic territory with their upcoming double single 'Futago no Laika / Septum,' arriving April 22.
The release represents a significant shift in the unit's creative process. Rather than relying on home recordings, iVy expanded into professional studio production while exploring the theme of "how we connect with others." The result maintains their DIY sensibility while scaling up the sound considerably.
'Futago no Laika' combines shoegaze-influenced walls of noise with delicate breathing sounds and pupu's shouted vocals, creating an immersive sonic experience. The B-side, 'Septum,' takes a different approach, weaving ethnic music elements with fuki's bouncy, playful vocal delivery.
The single features contributions from drummer Hoshiyuuta (WOZNIAK) and bassist Tanaka Satoshi (yonawo). Engineer Masashi Uramotoβwho's worked with Sakanaction, plenty, Daoko, and othersβhelmed the recording sessions.
This collaboration expands iVy's network within the Japanese indie music scene while keeping the project's intimate core intact. The pairing of two contrasting tracks showcases the duo's range, from ethereal textures to rhythmically adventurous arrangements. For fans of experimental pop and shoegaze-adjacent sounds, this represents an evolution worth checking out when it drops next week.
