Jazz drummer and composer Shunishi Ishiwaka announced the arrival of his second child on April 18, sharing the joyful news through his social media accounts. The newborn is a son, making Ishiwaka a father of two.

In his post, Ishiwaka expressed gratitude to his family, sharing a touching photo of his newborn's tiny hand. "Thank you so much for being born," he wrote, adding special thanks to his wife and daughter for their care and support throughout the pregnancy and birth.

He's perhaps best known as the original drummer for King Gnu's predecessor band Srv.Vinci, and he remains actively involved with various musical ventures. His credits include work with Hideaki Tsukada's project Millennium Parade, the Songbook Project, and his solo project Answer To Remember, which launched in 2019.

The musician announced his marriage in 2020, and welcomed his first child, a daughter, in 2024. Beyond his personal milestones, Ishiwaka has remained prolific in the music scene, performing with groups like CRCK/LCKS and providing percussion support for artists including Kuri and Kid Fresino.

With his expanding family, Ishiwaka continues to balance his active presence in Japan's jazz and experimental music communities, having earned recognition including the Jazz Japan Award's New Star Prize in 2015 for his debut album "Cleanup."
