Momoiro Clover Z has been tapped to perform the opening theme for the new anime series "Enno Tougyu-jo Dodge Danko" ("Fiery Dodgeball Girl Dodge Danko"), set to air starting July 6.

The group's new song "Kaishin no Ichigeki" ("A Triumphant Act") was written specifically for the series. This connection runs deeper than a typical anime tie-up—the anime is a sequel series based on the 1990s manga "Enno Tougyu-ji Dodge Danpei," and its characters are directly inspired by Momoiro Clover Z members.

The collaboration came about thanks to original manga creator Koshita Tetsuhiro, who is a devoted fan of the group. The main character, Ichigeki Danko, is modeled after Momoiro Clover Z leader Natsu Momota, while the character Kobutsu Chinko draws inspiration from member Reni Takashiro. Notably, Takashiro previously provided the voice for her character counterpart in a 2023 voice AR app experience.

Momota expressed her excitement about the partnership in a statement: "I'm thrilled to be singing the theme for this series. Learning that Danko was modeled after me felt surreal and exciting. I sang this song feeling like I was cheering on Danko and her friends while fighting alongside them. Friendship is the best! Let's all inject some fighting spirit and have fun together!"

The anime will air across multiple networks starting July 6, 2026, on TOKYO MX and BS11, with MBS picking up the series on July 7. A main promotional video featuring a preview of "Kaishin no Ichigeki" is already available on Avex Pictures' YouTube channel.

This marks another interesting project for Momoiro Clover Z, the four-member idol group that has built a career spanning nearly two decades. Beyond anime collaborations, the group recently lent their music to video game tie-ups and continues to maintain an active concert schedule, including summer festival appearances.
