MONGOL800 and Late Artist Omiya Eri's Picture Book Coming in April

A unique collaboration between Okinawan rock trio MONGOL800 and late artist Omiya Eri will come to life in book form this spring. "Kashi no Hondana: Anata ni" (Song Lyrics Bookshelf: To You) combines the lyrics from MONGOL800's song "Anata ni" with paintings left behind by Omiya Eri, who passed away in April 2023.

The picture book is set for release on April 23rd, offering fans a touching way to experience both artists' creative legacies together. MONGOL800, known for hits like "Chiisana Koi no Uta" that have become staples of Japanese pop culture, brings their heartfelt lyricism to this visual storytelling format.

Omiya Eri was a respected artist whose paintings will now reach new audiences through this posthumous collaboration. The pairing of MONGOL800's emotional songwriting with her visual art creates an interesting cross-media project that honors both creators.

This type of multimedia collaboration isn't uncommon in Japan, where music and visual arts often intersect in creative ways. For international fans of MONGOL800, this picture book represents another way to connect with the band's music, even if reading Japanese isn't required to appreciate the visual elements of Omiya's artwork paired with the familiar melodies of "Anata ni."

The project stands as a meaningful tribute that brings together two different forms of artistic expression into one cohesive work.
