MOROHA's Afro and Higuchi Ai Release Debut Album as Tentenkotaka

Tentenkotaka, the collaborative unit featuring Afro from hip-hop duo MOROHA and indie singer-songwriter Higuchi Ai, has announced their first full-length album.

The debut album, titled Shukusaijitsu (Festival Day), will be available both digitally and on CD starting May 13. Following the release, the duo plans to embark on a nationwide tour beginning in May.

For international fans unfamiliar with the artists, Afro is one half of MOROHA, a Japanese hip-hop duo known for blending rap with traditional Japanese instruments. Higuchi Ai has built a following as a solo artist with her intimate, folk-influenced sound. Their collaboration as Tentenkotaka represents an intriguing fusion of their distinct musical styles.

While details about the album's tracklist and tour dates remain under wraps, the pairing of these two artists suggests fans can expect a unique blend of hip-hop sensibilities and indie folk elements. The album title Shukusaijitsu, which translates to "festival day" or "holiday," hints at a celebratory tone for this debut effort.

This marks another example of Japanese artists crossing genre boundaries to create something fresh, continuing a trend that has seen hip-hop artists collaborate with musicians from completely different backgrounds.
