Fuji Television is kicking off a fresh game show this Sunday with an all-star lineup. "Shinjin Yuugi! THE Battle SHOW" premieres April 20 at 8 p.m., hosted by Sho Sakurai from Arashi, who brings his sharp wit and competitive edge to the MC chair.

The format pits two teams against each other: an "idol-actor army" led by Snow Man's Ryota Miyadachi and a "comedian-variety army" headed by playwright Hitotsu. Each team fields six members, including Seiya Suezawa (Aぇ! group), Aoki Inogari (KEY TO LIT), and several other entertainers and actors.

The first episode features three distinct games testing different skills. "Ninja Slash Panic" demands quick reflexes and judgment, "Garbled Characters" challenges knowledge, and "Psychological Rock-Paper-Scissors" relies on reading opponents. Before each round, teams hold strategy meetings to decide lineups and game plans.

What sets this show apart is its emphasis on emotions and psychology. Sakurai doesn't just refereeβ€”he strategically boosts morale or applies pressure to reveal contestants' true personalities under stress. Cast members who participated in the taping emphasized the show's accessibility.

"It felt like the classic TV game shows I watched after school," Inogari said, capturing the nostalgic appeal. Suezawa highlighted the universal appeal: "I think people of all ages can enjoy this."

Miyadachi described the experience vividly: "We competed seriously, sweated a lot, and the psychological games made us nervous in the best way. I felt so many different emotions."

Sakurai encouraged viewers to watch with family and friends, predicting plenty of moments where people shout at the screen in confusion or excitement. He aims to create an environment where guests genuinely enjoy themselvesβ€”and that energy should translate through the screen.

With its mix of competition, psychology, and genuine star power, "Shinjin Yuugi! THE Battle SHOW" looks poised to deliver the kind of interactive entertainment that gets people talking.
