About the Milestone

Yamashita's solo debut in 1976 launched one of Japan's most celebrated music careers. After the 1975 disbandment of his band Sugar Babe, Circus Town established him as a standout artist. His 1980 album Ride on Time cemented his status as a major force in Japanese music, and he's since become known for everything from writing iconic pop songs to producing albums for other artists.

Perhaps his most enduring legacy is "Christmas Eve," his 1987 holiday single that has charted in Japan's top 100 for over three decadesβ€”a feat recognized by Guinness World Records. Beyond his solo work, Yamashita has penned hits for major acts including KinKi Kids and Arashi, while also composing theme songs for major films and TV dramas.

This collaboration represents a rare intersection of his pioneering music career and contemporary fashion, giving fans a tangible way to celebrate his half-century of influence on Japanese pop culture.
