Visual kei veterans the GazettE have announced the departure of guitarist Aoi, marking another significant change for the band that has weathered two decades in the Japanese rock scene.

The circumstances surrounding Aoi's exit remain unclear, with the band yet to provide detailed explanation for the decision. This departure comes roughly two years after the tragic passing of bassist Reita, leaving the GazettE to navigate another major transition in their lineup.

Formed in 2002, the GazettE built their reputation as one of visual kei's most enduring acts, known for their theatrical performances and heavy sound that helped define the genre for international audiences. The band maintained remarkable stability throughout most of their career, with only one previous lineup change occurring early in their history when drummer Yune was replaced just a year after formation. Yune sadly passed away in 2022.

The band's ability to maintain their core membership for nearly two decades made them standouts in visual kei, a scene often marked by frequent lineup changes. Their consistency helped them build a devoted fanbase both in Japan and internationally, particularly among overseas listeners drawn to the dramatic aesthetics and powerful music that characterize the visual kei movement.

With Aoi's departure, the remaining members face the challenge of moving forward while honoring the legacy they've built together. The band has not yet announced plans for replacement members or how this change will affect their future activities.
