TOWA TEI is gearing up to release his new album "ZAMBIENT" on August 21 as a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl record. The project marks his return roughly a year after his previous album "AH!!" and brings together an impressive roster of collaborators from across Japan's music scene.

The album's standout tracks showcase TOWA TEI's collaborative approach. "NOTHING ELSE 2" features rap from Bose of legendary hip-hop group Scha Dara Parr, with additional contributions from guitarist KASHIF and vocalist Fukuhara On of Chappo. Buffalo Daughter bassist Ōno Yumiko appears on "ALA & MOANA," while Hosono Yūta (bassist for both Chappo and CHO CO PA CO CHO CO QUIN QUIN) joins "MOSAIC." Guitarist Takano Hiroshi rounds out the featured artists on "THE PEARL & OYSTER."

The 12-track album spans two sides, with six tracks on each. TOWA TEI describes the project as "mixed-breed ambient" — a playful twist on the album title that captures its genre-blending approach. The full tracklist includes cuts like "TOUCH," "HEY!," "THE SOURCE," "GANG AVOCADO TEAM," and several other instrumentally adventurous pieces.

TOWA TEI's reach extends well beyond music production. Since 1990, when he debuted as a member of Deee-Lite on the album "World Clique," he's released nine solo albums and worked across multiple projects including METAFIVE. More recently, he's served as music curator for INTERSECT BY LEXUS TOKYO in the Aoyama district since 2013, and contributed to high-profile projects like NHK's documentary on Yayoi Kusama and Yellow Magic Orchestra's 40th anniversary album "NEUE TANZ."

Limited copies of "ZAMBIENT" will be available through TOWA TEI's official online store, MACH ONLINE STORE, with special bonus items included. For fans eager to hear the album and meet TOWA TEI, a release party is scheduled for August 30 at METRO in Kyoto.
