Japan Society and Anime NYC announced the nominees for the third American Manga Awards, celebrating excellence in manga publishing and localization across North America.

The awards span six categories, honoring both new works and established series. In the Best New Manga category, Naoki Urasawa's Billy Bat competes alongside Bug Ego by ONE and Kyoto Shitara, The Credits Roll into the Sea by John Taranchine, The Horrors of Noroi Michiru by Noroi Michiru, and LOVE-BULLET by inee.

The Best Continuing Manga Series category recognizes ongoing publications, with The Climber (volumes 3-6) by Shin'ichi Sakamoto, March comes in like a lion (volume 4) by Chica Umino, Our Not-So-Lonely Planet Travel Guide (volume 7) by Mone Sorai, Search and Destroy (volume 3) by Atsushi Kaneko, and The Summer Hikaru Died (volume 6) by mokumokuren all nominated.

Beyond storytelling, the awards recognize the craft behind bringing manga to English-speaking audiences. Best Lettering nominees include work on titles like One Piece (volume 112) and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness, while the Best Translation category spotlights localization professionals who preserve the nuances of original Japanese works. Nominees include translations of Mushishi Collector's Edition, Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow, and Miss Ruki.

Classic manga receives dedicated recognition through the Best New Edition category, celebrating re-releases of foundational works. Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow, Mushishi Collector's Edition, and The Legend of Kamui are among the nominees, alongside newer rediscoveries like Stop!! Hibari-kun!.

The Best One-Shot Manga category features standalone stories, while Best Publication Design recognizes the visual presentation of collected editions, including Natsuki Takaya's Fruits Basket: The Complete Box Set.

These awards reflect the growing recognition of manga's cultural impact in North America and the specialized skills required to bring Japanese works to new audiences. The third iteration continues building on the American Manga Awards' mission to honor creators, translators, letterers, and publishers shaping the English-language manga market.
