Agent Kim: Reactivated, the Netflix live-action adaptation of the webtoon Manager Kim, just made history as the first Korean live-action series to use a fully AI-generated story sequence. The production, which debuted globally on June 26, features roughly three minutes of AI-created footage spanning Episodes 1 and 2.

The sequence depicts protagonist Kim (played by Ji-sub So), a former North Korean covert operative, executing secret missions before the main story begins. Rather than film individual visual effects shots, production company Morpheus Studio generated the entire sequence with AI, including large-scale action scenes with explosions, high-speed car chases through snowy terrain, vehicle crashes, underwater sequences, gunfights, and close-up character shots.

According to Morpheus Studio, creating these scenes traditionally would have demanded substantial production resources—elaborate sets, location scouting, practical explosions, and extensive visual effects work. By opting for full AI generation, the team could realize the webtoon's action-heavy backstory more efficiently while maintaining the cinematic scope the story required.

Manager Kim comes from the same universe as other popular webtoons including Lookism, Viral Hit, and My Life as a Loser. The source material ran from 2021 to 2025 and built a significant fanbase during its serialization. The English version remains available to read on WEBTOON.

This milestone reflects the growing adoption of AI tools in Korean entertainment production, though the approach remains relatively uncommon for live-action dramas. The series is now streaming on Netflix worldwide, making it accessible to international audiences curious about both the adaptation and the technology behind it.
