Kindergarten for Divine Beasts, which has racked up 4 million global views since launching in January 2025, is being adapted into an animated series using AI-assisted production techniques.
The show premieres later this month on Anione, a South Korean broadcast channel operated by Daewon Broadcasting. Each 10-minute episode combines two chapters from the original webtoon, which was created by writer Geul Mat and artist Mimba.
The adaptation stands out for how it approaches AI's role in animation. Rather than treating automation as a cost-cutting measure, Daewon Broadcasting and partner studio Glitch Goblin (an AI-focused video studio under Korea Edu Group) incorporated AI throughout planning, production, and post-production while keeping creative intent at the forefront. The team prioritized staying true to the webtoon's tone and character design while using AI to streamline direction, editing, and technical refinement to broadcast standards.
"This project shows how AI can function as a practical creative tool in content production, not just experimental use, while maintaining broadcast-level quality," a Daewon Broadcasting representative explained.
The story follows Seo Minwoo, an unremarkable guy who unexpectedly inherits a kindergarten—but not just any kindergarten. His students are divine beasts, magical creatures that require a very patient teacher. It's a setup that blends comedy with the charm of caring for unusual characters.
The original webtoon is available in English on the WEBTOON platform for anyone curious about the source material before the anime drops.
