The ban came after Itosugi uploaded older works to Google Drive and received an initial warning from the service. The timing created a significant inconvenience for Itosugi, who relies on his Google account across multiple websites and services beyond just cloud storage. In a post that garnered 25,000 likes, the artist reflected on the situation with wry humor, acknowledging that while the ban "isn't an issue for good people," it serves as a cautionary tale for those questioning their own judgment.

The discussion that followed revealed a key tension in content moderation: regional standards and cultural differences. One commenter noted that Itosugi had uploaded uncompressed files rather than compressing them into standard formats like ZIP or PNG. More significantly, several commenters raised concerns about how Google applies Western standards globally, with one pointing out that Japanese parents often document everyday moments—like children bathing—that wouldn't be flagged under Japanese cultural norms but trigger content filters designed for Western audiences. Itosugi agreed with this assessment, highlighting how Google doesn't allow users to adjust content standards based on their region.

The artist debuted as an adult manga creator in 2004 before transitioning to non-adult works in 2007 with Mono Kuro under Akita Shoten's Champion RED Comics imprint. More infamously, Tokyo's revised Youth Healthy Development Ordinance in 2011 targeted Aki Sora as one of the first six manga titles for potential restrictions, leading to print cancellations for volumes one and three—though digital versions remained available.
