Aksys Games Announces New Visual Novels and Indies at Anime Expo
Aksys Games revealed multiple upcoming game releases at Anime Expo, including the time-traveling RPG Another Eden Begins from Final Fantasy composer Yasunori Mitsuda, visual novel sequel Illusion of Itehari -trail-, and several other titles spanning 2026-2027.

Aksys Games shared its upcoming slate at Anime Expo, bringing a mix of visual novels, RPGs, and indie titles to Switch and other platforms over the next year.
The headliner is Another Eden Begins, a time-traveling RPG developed by Wright Flyer Studios and helmed by writer Masato Kato. The game features a fully voiced campaign with music from Final Fantasy composer Yasunori Mitsuda and Procyon Studios. Players journey across past, present, and future eras in a branching story that supports New Game+ with over 10 different endings based on player choices. The digital version arrives September 17 on Switch, Switch 2, and Steam, with physical releases following in 2027.
For visual novel fans, Illusion of Itehari -trail- is coming to Switch in Spring 2027. This sequel picks up after the first game's true ending and introduces new characters alongside returning faces rendered in Live2D. The package includes an After Story continuation and supplemental short stories.
Other announced titles include:
- Bounty Sisters (Fall 2026, Switch): A vertically scrolling shoot 'em up about three bounty-hunting sisters fighting villains in slapstick style.
- Cthulhu Mythos Adventures (Holiday 2026, Switch and more): A two-in-one visual novel collection blending narrative with TRPG mechanics. One story involves escaping an abandoned hospital in Lunatic Whispers, while the other breaks a curse on The Isle of Ubohoth—with dice rolls determining outcomes.
- Olympia Soirée -Catharsis-: Details for this title were mentioned but specifics weren't provided in the announcement.
All games will see physical and digital releases where applicable. The announcements show Aksys Games continuing its focus on bringing visual novels and smaller indie experiences to English audiences, with a particular emphasis on Switch as the lead platform. Fans of story-driven games and RPGs have plenty to look forward to through 2027.
