FuRyu released an English-subtitled trailer for Anomalith, a survival horror action game that's shaping up to be an intriguing blend of anime storytelling and gaming. The trailer gives players their first real look at the story they'll be investigating when the game launches October 29 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

The setup sounds like something pulled straight from an anime premise: in an unspecified future year, mysterious spatial disturbances called "Otherworlds" have suddenly appeared across the globe. A government agency called the "Danger Zone Countermeasures Office" has been unable to stop the threat or figure out where it's coming from. You play as Reona Minazuki, an investigator who's just woken up from a 10-year sleep inside one of these anomalies—and discovered she's developed an unusual sensitivity to them. Alongside your colleagues, you need to protect humanity while also helping a close friend caught up in the crisis.

What makes this project particularly interesting for anime fans is the creative team behind it. Romeo Tanaka, best known for writing the quirky narrative of Humanity Has Declined, is handling the scenario. The soundtrack comes from Yuka Kitamura, who's composed for major titles like Elden Ring and the manga-adapted anime Witch Hat Atelier. Character design is courtesy of MON, a character designer who worked on NisiOisin's Legends series.

The game is being developed by Winning Entertainment Group, formerly known as Natsume Atari. FuRyu is publishing, and they've positioned Anomalith as an anomaly horror survival action experience—so expect a mix of exploration, combat, and psychological storytelling.

With this particular blend of anime talent and gaming development, Anomalith has carved out its own niche in the survival horror genre. Whether you're drawn to it for the creative pedigree or the premise itself, October 29 is marked on the calendar.
