Aoashi Season 2 Reveals New Director, Studio, and Theme Song Artists
The soccer anime Aoashi is getting a fresh creative team for its second season, including a new director and animation studio. The season premieres October 4 on NHK Educational, with 10-FEET and Ai Higuchi handling the theme songs.

Aoashi Season 2 is stepping onto the pitch with some major behind-the-scenes changes. The anime revealed a new visual and confirmed its theme song artists on Friday, alongside updates to its production team.
10-FEET will perform the opening theme for the first 12 episodes, while singer Ai Higuchi takes the ending theme duties. The actual song titles haven't been announced yet.
The bigger news is the creative shuffle. Kazuki Yokoyama replaces Akira Satō as director, while TMS Entertainment takes over animation duties from Production I.G. The character design team also shifted, with Asami Taguchi and Junko Yamanaka joining returning designer Manabu Nakatake. Several previous character designers, including Asuka Yamaguchi and Saki Hasegawa, are no longer credited.
The core creative backbone remains intact—script supervisor Masahiro Yokotani, sound director Shōji Hata, and composer Masaru Yokoyama are all returning.
The second season debuts October 4 on NHK Educational. Before then, the Aoashi team will host a panel at Anime Expo on July 3, offering behind-the-scenes looks and season two preview footage.
Aoashi follows Ashito Aoi, a soccer-obsessed middle schooler from Ehime prefecture who catches the attention of Tatsuya Fukuya, a coach for the youth team of Tokyo City Esperion. Despite his talent, Ashito initially tries to hide his abilities—until a life-changing incident pushes him toward Tokyo and competitive youth soccer.
The first season aired in April 2022 and is available on Crunchyroll. Yūgo Kobayashi's original manga wrapped up with its 40th volume in August 2025 after running since January 2015.
With a new studio and director in place, season two will bring fresh eyes to the sports story while keeping the team that shaped its narrative voice. Fans can expect the second season to hit Crunchyroll as it airs in Japan.
