Inti Creates revealed plans to bring Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, building on the collection's previous release for PlayStation 5 and standard Switch last July.

The Switch 2 version gets more than just a technical refresh. Players can expect support for higher framerates and resolutions, plus a brand-new story mode titled "Azure Striker Gunvolt GX." This mode lets you control Gunvolt and Copen as a tag-team duo, complete with fresh weapons and abilities. The developers introduced an "Inspiration" system that rewards strategic character swaps with gameplay and score bonuses.

For those who already own the trilogy on Switch, Inti Creates plans to offer a paid upgrade pack to access the new content. The studio is also exploring DLC options to bring the GX story mode to other platforms down the line.

The trilogy collection bundles enhanced versions of all three Gunvolt games with quality-of-life improvements. It features "Live Novel" dialog that plays during missions without pausing the action, 37 vocal tracks performed by the "Muses," and full voiceover throughout (though the first two games retain Japanese-only audio). The series dates back to the original Azure Striker Gunvolt's 3DS debut in North America in August 2014, with sequels following on various platforms including Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

For collectors, a Limited Edition physical release will include an artbook and 8-CD soundtrack.

It's worth noting that the Azure Striker Gunvolt franchise extended beyond games—Inti Creates announced an anime adaptation at Anime Expo in July 2016, which launched on the Nintendo eShop in February 2017. The gaming series has maintained steady platform support over the years, proving there's sustained interest in Gunvolt's high-speed action gameplay.
