BL Manga 'Chotto Matō yo, Harutora-kun' Getting Live-Action Series
Amekiri's boys-love manga is being adapted into a live-action series premiering August 13 on MBS and other channels. The show stars Masaya Sakuragi and Tsubasa Nakagawa as two high schoolers whose friendship blossoms into romance.

Shinshokan's Dear Plus label announced that Amekiri's Chotto Matō yo, Harutora-kun (Wait a Second, Harutora-kun) is getting a live-action adaptation hitting MBS and affiliated channels on August 13.
The series follows Sui Kishida, a mask-wearing high schooler who faces bullying after coming out as gay. When straightforward new student Harutora Kurobe arrives at school, Sui finds the courage to be himself, and the two gradually develop feelings for each other. Masaya Sakuragi plays Harutora while Tsubasa Nakagawa portrays Sui.
Keisuke Shibata and Masayoshi Kishida direct, with Motoko Takahashi and Riuji Yoshizaki handling the scripts. Kōji Endō composed the music. The production includes thoughtful support from Lawyer Mimano Kawamoto as LGBTQ supervisor and Momoko Nishiyama as intimacy coordinator—roles that reflect growing industry care in adapting LGBTQ+ narratives.
Amekiri's manga debuted with its first volume in October 2022, followed by a second volume in April 2025. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English translation, with the second volume arriving in February 2025. This live-action adaptation comes as BL manga continues finding success across media formats, from anime to streaming platforms and now live-action television.
The timing suggests the live-action series capitalizes on growing international interest in LGBTQ+ manga adaptations, building on momentum from similar projects in recent years. With both professional direction and dedicated inclusivity roles in place, the production appears positioned to handle the source material's themes thoughtfully.
For fans outside Japan, availability details beyond MBS broadcast have not yet been announced, though international streaming platforms often acquire such productions post-premiere.
