Black Torch is heading into its final stretch. The anime adaptation of Tsuyoshi Takaki's manga will air its 11th and 12th episodes on September 19, wrapping the story after a 12-episode run that kicked off in July. Crunchyroll released a new promo video on Friday previewing the finale and teasing what it calls the "final battle," with the tagline: "The fates of countless souls are relying on Jiro & Rago. Just make a fist."

The series follows Jiro Azuma, a shinobi descendant with the rare ability to communicate with animals. His life takes a turn when a stray cat fuses with him, granting him exceptional power—but also pulling him into a hidden war between humans and dangerous spirits. It's a solid blend of action, supernatural stakes, and the kind of emotional beats that come from a protagonist who genuinely cares about the creatures around him.

Director Kei Umabiki (ClassicaLoid, Quality Assurance in Another World) has been steering the ship at 100Studio, with character designer Gō Suzuki handling the look and composer Yutaka Yamada (Babylon, Tokyo Ghoul) providing the score. The opening theme "Freeze Me Up" is by SiM, while I Don't Like Mondays. handles the ending with "Groooovy."

For those who prefer English voices, Crunchyroll has been offering same-day dubs alongside the Japanese audio and English subtitles. The manga wrapped up in 2018 after five volumes, so this anime adaptation is bringing the story to a clean close.
