Bandai Namco Entertainment is gearing up for the August 28 launch of Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters, a new soccer game based on Yōichi Takahashi's legendary manga. A fresh trailer dropped Monday showcasing the South Korean team among the game's 22 playable national squads.

The game will feature over 110 playable characters representing teams from around the globe. Pre-order bonuses include a 2026 Japan National Team Jersey, World Youth Jersey, and an Early Unlock Pack. The Ultimate Edition goes further with five uniforms, two exclusive menu themes, three ball customizations, the season pass, and additional content.

The original Captain Tsubasa manga ran for 37 volumes in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1988, spawning four TV anime series, four films, and multiple OVA projects. Takahashi's follow-up series, Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun, launched in 2013 and concluded in April 2024 with a storyboard continuation on the franchise website.

Recent years have seen renewed interest in the franchise globally. Shueisha's MANGA Plus service added all chapters of the original Captain Tsubasa manga in English for the first time in April 2025, making the series more accessible to international fans. The manga is now available in roughly 20 countries.

The game launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on August 28. Pre-orders are available now through Bandai Namco's official channels.
