The anime adaptation of Chainsmoker Cat (Yanineko) is gearing up for launch with a complete reveal of its creative team and musical direction. The series will premiere July 2 at 24:30 (effectively 12:30 a.m. on July 3) on Tokyo MX and BS11, with AT-X joining the broadcast rotation on July 25.

The main promotional trailer features the opening theme "Nanmonee" by rock band Wasureranneyo, while Necry Talkie handles ending theme duties with "Kemuri to Blue" (Smoke and Blue). The studio tapped an impressive roster of industry veterans to bring the comedy to life.

Taku Kimura, known for his work on Kairyū to Yūbinya-san and the Star Wars: Visions segment "Tattooine Rhapsody," directs at Bibury Animation Studio. Takashi Aoshima provides scripting—he's penned Himouto! Umaruchan and The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You. Character designer Riki Matsuura partners with composer Keiichi Suzuki, whose resume includes Saint Young Men and Tokyo Godfathers.

The voice cast features Yūko Natsuyoshi as Yani Neko, the chain-smoking protagonist, alongside Misato Matsuoka, Yurie Funato, Ayaka Shimizu, Shiori Izawa, Riko Akechi, and Tetsu Inada. Additional staff include Art Directors Yukiko Maruyama and Shōtarō Yoshino, Color Designer Yuiha Ōta, and Sound Director Takatoshi Hamano.

Chainsmoker Cat follows Yani, a catgirl with a severe smoking addiction living in a world where humans, catgirls, and similar species coexist. Despite constant attempts to quit, her cravings consistently win out, leaving her apartment—and life—in disarray. The manga, serialized in Kodansha's Young Magazine, has released 12 compiled volumes domestically, with the latest arriving May 20. Seven Seas is handling the English release, with the third volume launching June 16.

The anime's announcement comes as the manga continues to build momentum, blending comedy with its unusual premise of a struggling catgirl determined to overcome her habits—or failing to do so, humorously.
