Crunchyroll announced Thursday it has secured North American and worldwide rights (excluding Asia but including India) to The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure, a new film based on the anime adaptation of Hyuganatsu and Touko Shino's light novel series.

The film releases in Japanese theaters on December 11, with a North American release date to be announced later by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The story, written by original series author Hyuganatsu, follows protagonist Maomao and Jinshi as they travel to a concubine's hometown to return her remains. The journey introduces pirates, hidden treasures, the secret of the Empress' remains, and a mysterious boy central to the plot.

Actress Mariya Ise joins the voice cast as Mu Qing.

The anime series continues with its third television season, which premiered October 2 on NTV's "Friday Anime Night" block, with a second quarter arriving in April 2027. The first season debuted in October 2023, followed by a second season in January 2025. Crunchyroll streams both the Japanese audio and English dub versions of the series.
