Darkroom, a streaming service specializing in independent, foreign, and cult classic films and shows, has expanded its anime offerings with a fresh batch of titles now available to premium subscribers.

The service announced the addition of Crusher Joe, a 1983 science fiction film that launched as a manga adaptation before becoming a cult favorite. The platform is also adding two Crusher Joe OVA sequels: A Trap of the Frozen Jail and The Final Weapon ASH. These releases were previously made available on home video by AnimEigo (DVD, 2003) and later remastered by Discotek on Blu-ray in 2020.

Also joining the lineup is Simoun, a 2006 military mecha anime that aired across spring and summer that year. The series was previously released on home video by Media Blasters and has maintained a dedicated fanbase over the years.

Darkroom also confirmed it's streaming Haré+Guu Deluxe with an English dub, making it available to subscribers. AN Entertainment originally licensed the television anime and Deluxe series for North America, and this marks the show's arrival on the streaming platform.

As a subsidiary of distribution company Synergetic Films, Darkroom positions itself as a destination for viewers seeking titles outside the mainstream streaming ecosystem. The platform's focus on arthouse and genre content aligns with its decision to acquire these particular titles—works that might otherwise remain scattered across various home video releases and older streaming platforms.

For fans of classic anime or those looking to explore lesser-known entries in the medium's history, Darkroom's latest additions offer accessible ways to revisit or discover these productions. The inclusion of Crusher Joe particularly stands out, as the franchise hasn't seen much visibility in recent years despite its influence on anime science fiction.

All newly added titles are now available on Darkroom with a premium membership.
