Detective Conan continues to dominate Japan's box office landscape. The franchise's 29th film, Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi (Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway), earned 340.9 million yen (roughly $2.14 million) from Friday to Sunday, maintaining its #3 position in its sixth weekend.

The movie has now accumulated 8.10 million tickets sold and 11.95 billion yen ($75.16 million) total—marking another major success for the long-running series. This film is now the fourth consecutive Detective Conan release to cross the 10 billion yen threshold, a streak that began with 2023's Black Iron Submarine.

The film centers on Chihaya Hagiwara, a Kanagawa Prefectural Police officer and leader of the motorcycle division. A notable casting change brings in Miyuki Sawashiro as the new voice for the character, replacing the late Atsuko Tanaka. The story also involves inspector Jugo Yokomizo, teenage detective Masumi Sera, and supporting characters connected to Hagiwara's past.

Meanwhile, Super Mario Galaxy Movie reclaimed the top spot after dropping to #2 the previous week. Nintendo, Illumination, and Universal Pictures' sequel earned 360.3 million yen ($2.26 million) in its fourth weekend, bringing its total to 6.43 billion yen ($40.47 million) with 4.66 million tickets sold. The film features returning talent including directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, screenwriter Matthew Fogel, and composer Brian Tyler.

In other releases, the live-action adaptation of Shōjiki Fudōsan (The Honest Realtor) opened at #4 with 179.4 million yen ($1.13 million) in its opening weekend. Based on the manga by Mitsuhiro Mizuno and Akira Ōtani, the film arrived in Japanese theaters on May 15, following the success of its live-action TV series that launched in 2022.

The box office results reflect steady interest in both established franchises and adaptations of popular source material in the Japanese market.
