Digimon Beatbreak is ramping up its story with a new arc debuting this month. Beginning July 12 with episode 38, the "Kyō Arc" will introduce fresh narrative developments to the ongoing series that premiered last October on Fuji TV.
The anime revealed a new cast addition for this arc: veteran voice actor Shinichirō Miki will play Sōji Kuroshio, described as a former member of the Five Elements Star who has become emotionally detached and harbors an unexplained obsession with protagonist Kyo Sawashiro. Character details remain sparse, but his mysterious background and emotional disconnect suggest a complex role in the unfolding story.
Directed by Hiroaki Miyamoto at Toei Animation, Digimon Beatbreak follows Tomoro Tenma (voiced by Miyu Irino), a bounty hunter who partners with Gekkomon (Megumi Han) after their chance meeting. The pair joins the mercenary team "Glowing Dawn" as they hunt Digimon—creatures that evolve by consuming e-Pulse, an energy generated from human thoughts and emotions. What begins as dangerous work becomes a journey to forge a new future between humans and their digital companions.
The series has been available on Crunchyroll with both Japanese and English dubs since its debut, making it accessible to international audiences. With the creative team including series composition by Ryota Yamaguchi (known for Sailor Moon Stars and Dokidoki! Precure) and music by Arisa Okehazama, the production maintains consistent quality as it enters this new story phase.
Miki's addition to the cast comes as the series explores deeper character relationships and backstories. His previous roles in major series make him a recognizable voice for fans, suggesting Sōji Kuroshio will be more than a minor antagonist.
