Exstetra RPG HD Remaster Launches on Steam July 30 with English Support
FuRyu's fantasy RPG Exstetra is getting its first official English release through a new HD remaster coming to Steam on July 30. Console ports for Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, and PlayStation 5 are also in development.

FuRyu announced that its Exstetra fantasy RPG will finally reach English-speaking audiences with an HD remaster launching on Steam on July 30. This marks the first official English localization for the game, which originally released in Japan in 2013 for PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS.
The Steam release will include full English interface and subtitles alongside Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese support, with original Japanese audio. The publisher notes that some specifications have been adjusted from the original version, though specifics weren't detailed in the announcement.
Exstetra takes place in "Amazea," a Tokyo fused with another world facing destruction. Players follow Ryoma, a high school student chosen as a "Prisma"—a world-saving hero—who awakens companions called "Prisma Knights" through kisses to fight the coming apocalypse. The setup blends typical RPG mechanics with a supernatural romance angle that caught attention when the game originally launched over a decade ago.
The Japanese voice cast includes recognizable names like Yūichi Nakamura (Ryoma), Yōko Hikasa (Mizuki), and Ai Kayano (Kotone). Composer Yōko Shimomura handled the main theme, while pop group ClariS performed the opening song.
Beyond the Steam release, FuRyu is developing ports for Nintendo Switch 2, the standard Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5, though no release windows were provided for these versions.
The 13-year gap between the original release and this English debut suggests significant effort went into the remaster and localization. For fans of character-driven fantasy RPGs or those curious about a cult classic that never left Japan, the July 30 Steam launch provides an accessible entry point with modern platform support and language options.
