Cygames revealed its next major update for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising at EVO 2026 this past weekend. The fighting game will hit Version 2.60 on September 17, the same day its Nintendo Switch 2 port launches.

Version 2.60 introduces Id as a playable character and the Ainsteddo Archipelago stage. The Switch 2 version will include Id from day one, along with every DLC character released so far. The port also supports local wireless multiplayer and features the complete story mode plus Digital Figure Mode—a collection system showcasing character figures.

This update continues rolling out Character Pass 2, which has been adding fighters since February. The pass includes Sandalphon (February 2025), Galleon (May 2025), Meg (October 2025), and now Id. Previous character additions came through Version 2.50 in February 2026, which added Ilsa, and Version 2.20 in August 2025, which brought Wilnas.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising launched in December 2023 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam. The game is a fighting game spin-off of the popular Granblue Fantasy gacha RPG, developed by Arc System Works and Cygames. The original Granblue Fantasy: Versus came out in 2020.

The Switch 2 port expands the game's accessibility beyond traditional fighting game platforms, potentially bringing it to players who prefer portable gaming. With local wireless multiplayer confirmed for the portable version, the Switch 2 edition becomes a solid option for local competitive play.

Cygames teased the announcement with a teaser video posted to their official channels. For players already invested in the game, the September 17 update delivers fresh competitive content. For Switch 2 owners and series newcomers, it's a chance to jump into the fighting game on new hardware alongside a solid roster of characters.
