HIDIVE secured exclusive streaming rights to the I'm Dating a Dark Summoner anime adaptation, which launches this October as part of the fall 2026 season. The short anime adapts Shaoh's fantasy rom-com manga, which has been running since 2021 in Kadokawa's Dra Dra Sharp# online magazine.

The cast features Rei Takano as Amona, a demi-human dark summoner who wields demonic powers, and Yūki Nishiyama as Roni, a righteous cleric. Hōden Tei Senmai rounds out the main voice cast as Imp. Seiya Miyajima (known for work on Umayon and BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! Pico) directs the series while also handling scripts. Takahiro Sasaki, character designer and chief animation director, previously worked on Chronicles of the Going Home Club.

WWWave Corporation's Deregula anime label is producing the adaptation. The studio operates both the ComicFesta web manga service and the AnimeFesta anime programming block, making this a natural fit for bringing digital manga content to animation.

The story kicks off when Amona joins Roni's adventuring party—a pairing that seems destined for conflict between the righteous cleric and the demon-summoning demi-human. But expectations shatter quickly; by the end of Amona's first day, the two have already shared what's described as a "passionate night together," setting up the romantic comedy elements the series is built around.

The manga has maintained steady reader interest through seven published volumes, with Kadokawa releasing the seventh just this March. HIDIVE's decision to greenlight an anime adaptation reflects growing interest in digital manga properties, particularly those with built-in comedy and romance angles that appeal to streaming audiences.

Fans can expect the anime to premiere on HIDIVE this October, with more details likely emerging as the release date approaches.
