Inti Creates officially announced Gunvolt Chronicles Luminous Avenger iX 3 at the Bit Summit event, with the action platformer heading to Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam in 2027.

The third chapter returns protagonist Copen to his home world, where he encounters a mysterious girl warning him of interdimensional invaders called "iX Bearers." The game maintains the series' signature 2D action gameplay while introducing new mechanics. Most notably, players will wield the "Divide Edge"—a pair of twin energy swords designed to escalate combat intensity compared to previous entries.

One standout feature is the "Code Customizer" system, which gives players unprecedented control over Copen's abilities. Rather than a traditional leveling system, this approach lets you tailor his strengths to match your playstyle, though mastering the customization requires careful strategy.

Along with the new announcement, Inti Creates is ramping up releases for the existing Gunvolt catalog. The Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 1+2 Dual Collection—bundling the first two games with all DLC and balance updates—launches July 9 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam. A playable demo was available at Bit Summit.

The company has also been busy with the Azure Striker Gunvolt franchise. The Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced arrived on PS5 and Switch last July, with a Switch 2 version featuring new story content coming this year.

The Luminous Avenger iX spin-off series began in 2019 as a side story to the main Azure Striker line, focusing on Copen rather than the original protagonist. Since then, it's developed into a respected 2D action franchise in its own right, with the second game expanding to multiple platforms in 2022.

With three major Gunvolt releases planned or recently arrived, Inti Creates is clearly doubling down on the electric action franchise heading into the Nintendo Switch 2 generation.
