The upcoming Kagurabachi anime has added veteran voice actor Tomokazu Seki to its cast, taking on the role of Kunishige Rokuhira, the father of main character Chihiro. The casting announcement came from the series' official website on Friday.

Seki joins Taihi Kimura, who voices Chihiro in this adaptation of Takeru Hokazono's manga. Tetsuya Takeuchi directs the anime at Cygames Pictures (known for The World Is Dancing), with character designs by Keigo Sasaki (Blue Exorcist, Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray).

Kagurabachi follows young Chihiro, who trains under his father to become a master swordsmith. Their peaceful days shatter when tragedy strikes, leaving Chihiro with only his blade and a thirst for revenge. The story blends intimate character moments with intense sword combat action.

The manga debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023 and has become a commercial success, reaching 4 million copies in circulation. The series earned recognition at multiple award ceremonies, including a nomination for the 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards and the 49th Kodansha Manga Awards. It also scored a nomination for the 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, demonstrating international appeal.

The anime will premiere in April 2027, with Cygames Pictures handling production alongside Shochiku and CyberAgent. Before the official debut, fans can catch the first 20 minutes of episode one at a global "world tour" event beginning this July. Screenings are planned for Anime Expo in Los Angeles, Japan Expo in Paris, ANImagic in Mannheim, Germany, and Anime NYC in August. The full first episode will premiere in Japan during spring 2027.

Viz Media continues releasing the manga in English through both digital and print formats, with the seventh volume arriving in May. The series is also available digitally on Shonen Jump and MANGA Plus.
