Kaiko Fuyumushi, author of the completed manga series There, Beneath the Water, has launched a new work titled Kagami yo Kagami yo (mirror, mirror on the wall) on GOTcorporation's Comic MeDu manga website starting July 3.

The new series centers on Hina, a young woman raised by her overprotective mother in an unusually sheltered environment. When Hina enrolls at university—the same one her mother attends—she begins to realize just how isolated her upbringing has been. The story takes a turn when she befriends Asuka, a classmate with a reputation for having undergone full-body cosmetic surgery. This unexpected meeting becomes the catalyst for significant changes in Hina's life and perspective.

Fuyumushi's previous work, There, Beneath the Water (Mina Soko nite), serialized on Futabasha's Web Action platform from September 2021 to May 2023 before concluding with its third compiled volume in August 2023. The series gained international recognition through Tokyopop's English licensing, with the first volume set to release in North America on October 27.

Kagami yo Kagami yo marks Fuyumushi's return to serialization following the completion of their previous manga. The move to Comic MeDu suggests the creator is exploring new platforms for their work, while continuing to tell character-driven stories that examine personal growth and self-discovery.

Fans of Fuyumushi's introspective storytelling should find plenty to appreciate in this new series, which appears to blend coming-of-age themes with commentary on societal beauty standards and personal autonomy.
