Kakao Entertainment is ramping up its content creation with a new submission window for drama webtoons. Starting May 27 and running through June 10, the company will accept pitches across two distinct application tracks designed to bring fresh stories to its platforms.

The company's drama category covers a broad range of stories—from everyday slice-of-life narratives to black comedies, thrillers, and coming-of-age tales. This move reflects Kakao's track record of turning webtoon hits into live-action adaptations. Past successes include Itaewon Class, The Uncanny Counter, and A Bona Fide Killer, all of which migrated from webtoon to screen.

Two Paths for Creators

The "webtoon submission" track is for artists and creative teams with a completed vision. Applicants need to provide a full synopsis, a finished first episode, and storyboard drafts for episodes two and three. Writers without illustration experience can apply through the "story submission" category, which requires a project proposal, synopsis, and storyboard drafts for the first three episodes. The company allows applicants to submit to both tracks if interested.

Creators selected through either pathway will gain access to simultaneous serialization on Kakao's two major platforms: Kakao Webtoon and Kakao Page. This dual-platform release significantly expands potential audience reach and gives selected works better visibility within Kakao's ecosystem.
