The Kill Blue anime has added voice actress Ikumi Hasegawa to its cast, taking on the role of Mai Otohime. The character is a marine sports prodigy known as the "Mermaid Queen," featuring a dual personality—a shy, petite "Chibi-hime" side and a bold "Gyaru-hime" side.

The series, based on Tadatoshi Fujimaki's manga of the same name, premiered on TV Tokyo and other Japanese networks in April, with a simultaneous debut on AT-X shortly after. The anime is directed by Hiro Kaburagi (Great Pretender, Hozuki's Coolheadedness) at CUE, a studio established by DMM in 2023. Character design duties fall to Miho Daidōji, who previously worked on three seasons of Kuroko's Basketball and the Last Game film.

The series follows Juzo Ogami, a legendary hit man who wakes up transformed into a teenager and must infiltrate his old stomping ground—a school—to uncover the truth behind his mysterious change.

Kill Blue is notably CUE's first project as main animation production studio. The production has already secured notable talent for its theme songs: South Korean girl group aespa performs the opening theme "ATTITUDE," while boy band RIIZE handles the ending theme "KILL SHOT."

The anime has broad streaming availability across North America, with English dubs available on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Fans can also watch on Crunchyroll, Rakuten Viki, Plex, and various FAST channels through Samsung TV Plus and Vizio WatchFree+.

Fujimaki's original manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from April 2023 through September, concluding with 13 volumes. Viz Media is handling both digital and print releases in English, with the sixth volume arriving in April. A light novel adaptation titled Kill Blue Secret Report by Kiyoko Hoshi was also released.
