Kodama Tales is expanding its catalog with five new manga licenses announced this week, bringing a diverse mix of genres to English readers over the next several months.

The publisher revealed the slate across daily announcements, starting with Beautiful Place by Jiro Matsumoto (January 2027), a near-future military drama centered on Shimon Hanazawa, an honor student who enrolls as a trooper at an all-girls academy during a time of civil conflict in Japan. The premise sets up tension between Shimon's disciplined nature and her unpredictable unit leader, Momoko Takasaka, against the backdrop of armed conflict.

Horizon by Shiten Akiyama also arrives in January. The story follows Mieko Fujiwara, a burnt-out twentysomething office worker who reconnects with her youthful self after a chance encounter with a mysterious young man—a premise blending nostalgia with romance.

February brings Crows by Hiroshi Takahashi, one of the most recognizable titles in the batch. The manga follows transfer student Harumichi Bouya as he navigates Suzuran All-Boys High School, infamous for its violent delinquent factions. What starts as casual brawls escalates into a full-scale gang war, anchored by bonds forged through violence and tested loyalty.

Cyber Blue by Tetsuo Hara launches in Q1 2027 in hardcover. Set on the hostile planet Tinos, the story centers on Blue, a young gunslinger murdered by corrupt officials, who returns as a cybernetic killing machine bent on galactic vengeance. The premise combines sci-fi worldbuilding with revenge narrative momentum.

Rounding out the batch is Casino Gui by Hanaichi Nozaki and Shiro Yoshida (April 2027), following Gen Suzuki, an unlucky orphan who plots a high-stakes heist against an underground casino to save his childhood friend from crippling debt. The title blends crime thriller elements with gaming culture.

The releases represent Kodama Tales' effort to diversify its offerings across action, drama, romance, and sci-fi genres. Fans can expect the first of these titles to arrive in bookstores and digital platforms starting in January 2027.
